LS Player Software Update
Light Stream Player software is updated with a file that is uploaded to the player through its web interface. The same file works for Player V1 and Player V2. There is no need to ask support for the file — every version is publicly available on the website.
Where to get the update file
Update files for all versions are published on the official website on the player page: Player V2 on lightstream.pro. The Software update section shows the current version, and the Version archive button lists all previous versions with release dates.
- The file is named
lmp_XXXXXXXXX.update; the number encodes the version:lmp_001003006.updateis version 1.3.6. The file is about 250 MB — wait for the download to finish completely. - What changed in each version is listed in Changelog Player.
- The current firmware version is shown in the player's on-screen menu under About device.
Update order
Updates are installed step by step, not "several versions at once": each release has a minimum version it can be installed from. If the player is older, first install the intermediate version from the archive.
| Version | Release date | Minimum version required | Internet during update |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.3.6 | 10.07.2026 | 1.2.4 | not required |
| 1.2.4 | 07.04.2026 | 1.1.2 | not required |
| 1.1.2 | 10.11.2025 | 0.18.0 | not required |
| 0.18.0 | 30.05.2025 | 0.15.2 | required |
| 0.15.x and older | 2024–2025 | in order, from the version archive | — |
Example: the player runs 0.18.0 and you need 1.3.6 — install 1.1.2 → 1.2.4 → 1.3.6 one after another.
Starting from version 1.1.2 an internet connection is not needed to install an update. It is only required when updating to 0.18.0 (and for NTP time synchronization).
Installing through the web interface
- Open the player's web interface in a browser and go to Settings, tab Update.
- Click the upload button and choose the downloaded
.updatefile. Once uploaded, the file appears in the list of updates. - Click Check — the player verifies the file integrity and compatibility with the current version.
- After a successful check the Install button appears. Installation takes several minutes and the player reboots on its own at the end.
- After the reboot make sure the new version is shown under About device and check playback.
Before installing, the player creates a configuration backup and checks free disk space on its own. You can also save a backup manually: Settings → Maintenance → create a .backup file.
Rolling back to the previous version after installation is not available (the feature was disabled starting from version 0.15.6). Unneeded update files can be removed from the list with the Delete button.
If the update does not install
- Check or installation fails — most often an intermediate version was skipped: compare with the table above and install the minimum required version first.
- The file does not upload or the check reports a file error — the download is incomplete or the file is corrupted: compare the size with the website and download it again.
- Not enough space — delete unnecessary update files and unused animations, then retry.
- Update to 0.18.0 stalls — this version needs internet access on the player.
- If nothing helps, collect debug information (Settings → Maintenance → Debug information) and write to the support chat with the file and the error text attached.
