New page

ru:Панель инструментов en:Toolbar
The toolbar sits at the top of the Mapping window and gathers everything needed for working with the field: selecting and moving fixtures, creating layouts, adding single fixtures and splines, editing and duplicating, snapping, and toggles for what is drawn on the field. The left part of the toolbar holds toggle tools: exactly one is always active, and it determines what mouse clicks and drags do (for details, see the article Мышь, выделение и перемещение). Next to them are buttons for one-off actions on selected fixtures, the Autopatch checkbox, and the fixture type button. At the right edge of the toolbar are the snapping controls and visibility checkboxes.

All the labels below are button tooltips: hover the cursor over a button, and the program shows its name.

Selection Tools
; Select and Move
: The default tool and the main mode of work: a single click selects a fixture, a selection box selects several, and dragging moves the selection. A frame with scaling handles appears around the selection, and to the right of the frame is a separate rotation handle showing the current angle. This same tool is also used to select layouts. Selection is synchronized with the Fixtures window: whatever is selected on the field is highlighted in the list, and vice versa. While this tool is active, the flip buttons are available (see below).

; Hand
: Panning: drag the field with the left mouse button. The same result, in any tool, is achieved by holding down the mouse wheel (middle button), so switching to the “Hand” tool is usually unnecessary.

Adding Fixtures and Layouts
; Create Layout
: Drawing a rectangular layout directly on the field: the first click sets one corner, the second sets the opposite one, and between clicks the future rectangle is shown as a green frame. As soon as the layout is created, the program automatically switches back to the Select and Move tool, the new layout is selected, and its group expands in the current composition. A layout covering the entire field is created by the menu item Edit → Create Layout. What layouts are and what they're for — see Creating and Modifying Layouts.

; Add Fixture
: Each click on the field places one fixture of the selected type. The tool stays active until you choose another one, so you can place a whole series of fixtures in a row. Two fixtures cannot be placed at the same point: the program ignores a repeated click at the same spot.

; Add Spline
: Drawing a polyline along which fixtures are arranged: the first click is the start, each following click adds a new vertex, Enter finishes the spline, Esc erases the line started so far (pressing Esc again exits to “Select and Move”). Holding Shift (or Ctrl) aligns a new vertex with the previous one horizontally or vertically if the deviation is less than 5 pixels — convenient for drawing straight segments. For how a spline differs from a set of single fixtures, see Splines and Single Fixtures.

; Fixture Type Button
: To the right of the tools is a button showing the name of the current fixture type. It is only active when the "Add Fixture" or "Add Spline" tool is selected, and it opens the Fixture Library, where you choose which fixtures will be created. Until an add tool is selected, the button is called Select Fixture.

; Autopatch
: A labeled toggle. When enabled, every added fixture or spline immediately receives a port and a DMX address: the port is whichever one is currently selected in the Fixtures window, and the address is the next free one after the last fixture on that port. If no port is selected, addresses continue the sequence of the last unpatched fixtures. Fixtures added one after another fall into the address space one by one without manual arrangement. With the toggle off, new fixtures do not receive addresses and must be patched manually (see Patching Fixtures).

Editing
; Edit Spline
: Vertex-editing mode for the selected spline: points can be dragged, added by clicking near the line, and deleted with the Delete key. The button is available when at least one spline is among the selection; double-clicking a spline also enters this mode. Exit with Enter, Esc, or by choosing any other tool.

; Duplicate
: A cloner: makes copies of the selected fixtures with a given step. The button is available when at least one fixture is selected, and it opens a small window with parameters right below the toolbar:

Parameter !! What it sets
Count || How many copies to create
Address Offset || How many channels to shift the starting address of each next copy
X Offset, Y Offset || The step between copies on the field, in pixels
Snake Mode || For each next copy, the pixel direction reverses, as when laying tape in a zigzag ("snake") pattern
Split Universes || Whether a fixture is allowed to start in one universe and end in the next. If disabled, a copy that doesn't fit in the remainder of the universe is moved entirely to the first channel of the next one

: The Apply button (or Enter) creates the copies and immediately selects them; Cancel (or Esc) closes the window. In both cases, the program returns to the Select and Move tool.

; Flip Vertically / Flip Horizontally
: Mirror the selected fixtures relative to the center of the selection. For a spline, along with its vertices, the direction in which its pixels run is also mirrored. These buttons only work while the Select and Move tool is active.

; Convert to Spline
: Combines two or more selected single fixtures into one spline: the fixtures become its vertices. Available only when single fixtures (not splines) are selected and there is more than one.

; Convert to Fixtures
: The reverse operation: the selected splines break apart into single fixtures, positioned exactly where their pixels were. After this, each fixture can be moved and patched separately.

Snapping
; Snap to Grid
: A toggle. When adding, moving, or scaling fixtures, their coordinates are rounded to a whole field pixel — fixtures always land exactly on the cells of the pixel grid. Snapping is enabled by default. The grid itself is shown by the menu item View → 2D Mapping → Show Pixel Grid.

; Rotation Snap and Angle
: A toggle with a degree value field next to it. When snapping is enabled, rotating via the rotation handle moves in steps of the specified angle (15° by default); when disabled, rotation is free, accurate to hundredths of a degree.

; Snap Settings
: Right-clicking either of the two snap buttons opens a small Snap Settings window — the same Snap to Grid checkbox and Snap Angle, if it's more convenient to set them there. It closes with Esc.

What to Show on the Field
At the right edge of the toolbar are five checkboxes — they turn the image layers in the Mapping window on and off:

* Fixtures — the fixtures and splines themselves;
* Effects — the output of the current composition's effects;
* Layout — the layout frames;
* Mask — the fixture mask;
* Background — the field's backdrop.

The checkboxes affect more than just the image: while Fixtures is off, fixtures on the field cannot be selected with the mouse — so they won't get moved by accident while you're looking at the effects. What each layer shows is covered in detail in the article Display Modes Overview.

What Else Is in the Mapping Window
* The View → 2D Mapping menu controls what is drawn on top of the fixtures: Show Splines, Show Fixture Universes, Show Pixel Numbers, Show Fixture Multi-Addresses, Show Pixel Grid.
* The same menu also enables informational fields in the corner of the window: Coordinates (cursor position in field pixels), Zoom, and Frames Per Second (FPS).
* The Z key fits the entire field into the window and centers it; Space starts and stops playback of the current composition. The full list of shortcuts is in the Help → Keyboard Shortcuts window.
